Description: Sports Officials help maintain the standards of play in athletic competitions. They preside over games, using their knowledge of the game to spot penalties and other infractions. In some settings, such as in the National Football League, they utilize video reply to assess violations.There are no formal educational requirements to become a Sports Official. Some organizations and schools may require Officials to join an association or register with the state or a local agency. This may require taking a written or active exam as well as taking classes.
