Description: Under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistants will assist patients in treatments for disabilities, illness, injury and other difficulties associated with aging or development.Assistants can take a certification exam administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. By passing the examination, they earn the title Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). This certification is purely voluntary, but can help one stay competitive in the job market. However, Assistants are required to be licensed in most states.
