Description: When complex crimes that require in-depth investigation occur, police departments turn to their detectives to gather facts and collect evidence. Detective Supervisors are responsible for directly coordinating investigative efforts of departmental detectives and other members of the police force.Detective Supervisors typically start off as police officers, after graduating from the academy. They must have at least a high school degree and have completed years of on-the-job training as a Detective. Some supervisors may be required to have a college degree.
